The Immune Deficiency Foundation would like to share the following tools with you to help promote primary immune deficiency awareness during the month of April. We encourage you to review the following information and if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact IDF at idf@primaryimmune.org, or 800-296-4433 for more information.
This year, we are promoting THINK ZEBRA! In medical school, many doctors learn the saying, "when you hear hoof beats, think horses, not zebras." Most physicians are taught to focus on the likeliest possibilities when making a diagnosis, not the unusual ones. However, sometimes physicians need to look for a zebra. Primary immunodeficiency patients are the zebras of the medical world. So IDF says "THINK ZEBRA!"
With your continued help and support, we can create PIDD awareness year round. We thank you for your efforts!
Fundraising and Events
THINK ZEBRA! Fundraising Kits
Our fundraising kits are available to help you create a fundraising plan and get started raising funds and awareness of primary immunodeficiency diseases, while also helping to save lives! Money raised will help fund patient and physician education and awareness. Download a PDF version of the THINK ZEBRA! Fundraising Kit or you can order kits by contacting IDF at idf@primaryimmune.org, or 800-296-4433.
Show Your Stripes
To display your support for Primary Immunodeficiency Awareness Month 2010, add the THINK ZEBRA! Logo and the following tagline to email correspondence, your blog or website and your IDF Friends or Facebook page.
IDF Says... THINK ZEBRA! April is Primary Immunodeficiency Disease Awareness Month!
You can also "Show Your Stripes" by submitting a picture for inclusion in the IDF ADVOCATE newsletter to idf@primaryimmune.org, of yourself/family/pets featuring black and white zebra stripes! We also encourage you to upload your photos to the Community Photo gallery on IDF Friends and/or IDF Common Ground. IDF Friends for adults, and IDF Common Ground for teens and young adults, are both great ways to get connected to others in the PIDD Community. Consider telling your story by filming an IDF Reel Story or IDF Ground Breaking Story and uploading it to IDF Friends and/or IDF Common Ground.
Take Action and Advocate
Advocacy gives you a voice! You don't need to be a professional lobbyist to influence how policy and legislation are created. Grassroots advocacy helps to personalize an issue and begin to help solve some of the problems that our community faces. Get your IDF Advocacy Toolkit now to start getting involved. Also, if you are interested in obtaining a State Proclamation from your governor, please contact IDF idf@primaryimmune.org for more information.
