IDF Youth Programs
The Immune Deficiency Foundation offers a broad array of programs responsive to the needs of the younger members of the IDF community.
Youth programs are offered at every IDF National Conference, Retreat and Family Conference Day. These kid-friendly gatherings offer education and fun for children, up to age 18, who are diagnosed with a primary immunodeficiency disease or have a family member with this condition. While parents are attending educational sessions, their children will benefit from programs developed especially for them.
Childcare (ages 6 months – 4 years)
On-site childcare is available during the conference at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort and Spa on a first-come/first-served basis. Registered conference attendees can use this service provided by Kiddie Corp, an organization that provides high quality children and youth services for special events and conferences.
Kids Club (ages 5 – 9 years)
Children are grouped with others of their own ages for entertaining activities. Arts and crafts, games, music and magic will be combined with fun sessions about their immune system and general healthcare.
Tween Scene (ages 10 – 12 years)
Tweens meet others of their own age as they participate in action-packed activities, games, movies and sessions about living with or knowing someone with PIDD. Special sessions are scheduled for tweens living with PIDD and those that know someone with PIDD.
Teen Escape (ages 13 – 18)
Teen Escape is a program just for teens! Teens participate in an activity-packed, fun-filled program designed to promote friendship, build leadership skills and learn about primary immunodeficiency diseases from medical experts. Special sessions are scheduled for teens diagnosed with PIDD and family members that focus on issues important to each group.
Everyone involved enjoys hands-on activities, and medical professionals, IDF Teen & Young Adult Council Members and Mentors, lead the festivities. Both fun and informative, IDF Youth Programs boost spirits, help children understand their primary immunodeficiency disease, and connect often-isolated youth with peers that are facing similar circumstances.
