THINK ZEBRA!
The Fifth Anniversary
IDF fundraising initiative to support primary immunodeficiency awareness
In medical school, many doctors learn the saying, “when you hear hoof beats, think horses, not zebras,” and are taught to focus on the likeliest possibilities when making a diagnosis, not the unusual ones. However, sometimes physicians need to look for a zebra. Patients with primary immunodeficiency diseases are the zebras of the medical world. So IDF says THINK ZEBRA! Let’s teach the world about “ZEBRAS” while raising funds to help promote awareness of primary immunodeficiency diseases.
What better way to raise funds and promote awareness of primary immunodeficiency diseases, while helping to save lives! Money raised will help fund patient and physician education and awareness.
We challenge you to raise as much as you can. Gifts at all levels are greatly appreciated and ALL participants, no matter how much they raise, will be recognized. Although we hope you will support THINK ZEBRA!, we realize everyone’s financial circumstances are different and we hope you will make a gift at whatever level you feel comfortable.
This year, for the first time, funds and awareness can be raised online.
It is easy for you to create your own Personal Campaign Page, and then e-mail friends, neighbors and family members, with information about primary immunodeficiency diseases and IDF. We will provide all the information, materials and even sample text for you to use! Then your contacts can simply make contributions to IDF through your Personal Campaign Page. Simply click on the green button to get started.
Although THINK ZEBRA! 2013 is an online program, you can still request awareness bracelets to help in your efforts. In the past these were available for a suggested donation of $10, and were generally sent out in packets of 10. If you’d like to request bracelets, or a paper THINK ZEBRA! packet, please send an email to amayberry@primaryimmune.org or call 800.296.4433.
