IDF Reaches Out to Indianapolis, Patients Value Time with Medical Experts

On May 5, patients living with primary immunodeficiency diseases (PIDD) who live in and around Indianapolis, IN gathered for an Immune Deficiency Foundation Operation Outreach Meeting.

IDF Operation Outreach is a series of one-day meetings that brings invaluable information to regions of the country not often privy to such meetings and seminars. The meetings consist of informative education sessions and comprehensible presentations from primary immunodeficiency experts.

The 30 Indianapolis participants of patients and family members enjoyed the topics discussed, including general PIDD information, IDF resources and therapy options. After their presentations, healthcare professionals from CSL Behring, Melvin Berger, MD, PhD and Patty Riley, RN, spoke directly with patients during a helpful question and answer session.

Patrick Collins, also from CSL Behring, explained how current healthcare reform measures help persons with chronic conditions. Finally patients and family members had the opportunity to talk to one another in a Person to Person Discussion Session.

Afterwards one patient said, “Thank you for coming to Indianapolis! Having the opportunity to speak personally with Dr. Berger was a true gift!”
