Longtime IDF Volunteer Gail Nelson Visits Octapharma Plasma Center in Monroe, LA

Octapharma Plasma Center (Monroe, LA) Director Cynthia Boyd, IDF volunteer Gail Nelson and Octapharma Regional Director Stuart Aucoin, June 6.

Gail Nelson of Shreveport, LA devotes time to the Immune Deficiency Foundation whenever she is needed and has done so for many years. On June 6, Gail and her husband, Syd, visited the Octapharma Plasma Center in Monroe, LA, but this was not the first visit for Gail. In fact she was among the first group of patients to tour plasma centers years ago. “We did not get to visit with the donors nor did we get to speak with the entire staff,” explains Gail of her early plasma center trips.

But now, through the IDF Plasma Center Partners Program, patients like Gail go to their local plasma center specifically to meet donors and staff and to tell their stories. IDF arranges the visits, and many volunteers are stepping up and taking time out of their schedules to recognize the vital work of plasma centers.

“This is such an easy thing for volunteers to do,” says Gail, “The donors seemed to appreciate being thanked—and several asked questions … It was definitely one of those ‘feel good’ visits!”
