In recent days, many of you have contacted IDF regarding our efforts to extend the Medicare IVIG Demonstration that is scheduled to end on December 31, 2020. In our recent action alerts, we asked that you urge Congress to include the Medicare IVIG demonstration extension bill (H.R. 7839) at the end of the year legislative package that was scheduled for a vote on December 11, 2020. Please be aware that this vote has been postponed and is now expected to occur on December 18, 2020. That means there is still time to get the demo extension passed before the end of the year, and we are working hard to make that happen.
You can help us continue to advocate for this legislation by responding to this action alert.
For those primary immunodeficiency (PI) beneficiaries who are on the demonstration, and are making back-up arrangements to receive their Ig infusions, be sure to review the IDF blog post, An Update on the Medicare IVIG Demonstration and the Legislation Attempting to Extend It. There are also more details on the Medicare homebound benefit and other frequently asked questions in the Home IVIG options for Medicare Demonstration Enrollees: FAQs post. Another option for demo enrollees to consider is to ask your specialty pharmacy if they will provide some bridge support to cover IVIG in the home.
We understand that this delay is very stressful for those who rely on the IVIG Demo to receive home infusions. However, we are optimistic that with the help of the whole PI community, the extension will be included at this end of the year legislative package.
