Both Houses of Congress have passed, and the President has signed into law the legislation that extends the Medicare IVIG Demonstration Project. This demo project is now set to run through December 31, 2020, or until allocated funds are spent, whichever comes first. Currently, IDF is in discussions with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) about next steps for demonstration project participants. Current participants will have their October claims covered and will experience no gaps in care. CMS is reaching out to providers informing them of the project extension.
CMS has also begun accepting new demonstration project applicants on a rolling basis and will continue to do so until the demonstration reaches its statutory limit on enrollment and/or funding. Applicants will receive notification within 10 calendar days of completed application receipt to confirm their status and, if eligible, the date which their coverage will begin under the demonstration. Applicants that are deemed eligible to participate submitting a completed application by the 15 of the month will have coverage beginning on the first day of the following month. Applicants that are deemed eligible that submit a completed application after the 15 of the month will have coverage effective the first day of the second following month.
