Description
Peer support is vital to those in the PI community. Peer Support Volunteers provide one-to-one support to others in the community by telephone and email. By sharing their experiences and providing a caring ear, these volunteers can give hope to others along the journey.
Key Responsibilities
- Represent IDF when providing emotional and practical support to others
- Maintain confidentiality of individuals receiving support
Time Commitment
- Must be able to commit to following up with periodic peer support requests
- Should expect to spend approximately 1-4 hours per month working in this role
- Must be willing to commit to a minimum one year term
Qualifications
The ideal volunteer for this position:
- is someone who is diagnosed with PI or has a family member with PI and is at least two years post-diagnosis
- has strong communication and listening skills
- is emotionally well-adjusted and compassionate toward others
