International Plasma Awareness Month
Throughout the month of October, IDF highlighted the importance of plasma donation and why plasma donors are truly lifesavers to many people living with PI. We want to thank those who donate plasma so many in our community can stay healthy. The majority of people diagnosed with PI have defects in their immune system’s ability to make antibodies to fight infections. These illnesses, such as Common Variable Immune Deficiency (CVID), X-Linked Agammaglobulinemia (XLA) and other disorders, rely on life-long, lifesaving immunoglobulin (Ig) replacement therapy. Ig comes from human plasma and is used to replace the antibodies that are needed to protect them from life-threatening infections.
