Volunteers and Patients in Dedham, MA get lively at IDF Family Conference Day

Ninety patients and family members attended the IDF Family Conference Day on April 9, 2011 in Dedham, MA.  The event had everything from fabulous medical experts and support group to live entertainment and fun programs for children and teens.

The IDF Family Conference featured a great agenda:

Welcome & IDF Update
Katherine Antilla, MAEd, Immune Deficiency Foundation

Managing & Treating Primary Immunodeficiency Diseases
Francisco Bonilla, MD, PhD, Children’s Hospital Boston

Ask the Medical Expert Seminar
Francisco Bonilla, MD, PhD, Children’s Hospital Boston
Anna Kovalszki, MD, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center
Jolan Walter, MD, PhD, Massachusetts General Hospital
Duane R. Wesemann, MD, PhD, Brigham and Women’s Hospital

The youth especially enjoyed the hand washing activity where they learned how to be germbusters and make sure they killed all the germs.  IDF Volunteer Stef Bush sang tracks from her CD, Hope Rising, and was joined for one song by her two children, Sasha and Will.

Thank you to IDF Core Service Sponsors who make these meetings possible:  Baxter Healthcare, Biotest Pharmaceuticals, CSL Behring, Grifols, IgG America/ASD Healthcare/US Bioservices, Octapharma, Talecris Biotherapeutics and Sustaining Contributor, Walgreens-IG Therapy Program

Thanks also to all of the presenters and for the wonderful IDF volunteers who gave their time to create a phenomenal event: Stef Bush, Ralph Bush, Linda Dalton, Michelle Fox – who made a delicious THINK ZEBRA! cake – Susan Giorgi-Branch, Betty Gordon, Patricia Holland, Corynne Lavoie, and Katie Martin!

Please let IDF know if you are involved in any Commuity in Action activities so we can feature you in a future blog post, inspire other volunteers, and continue to spread awareness!
