Peer support volunteer

Provide emotional and practical one-to-one support to give others hope along their PI journey.

Provide a critical connection to someone who needs it

Volunteers share their experiences and provide a caring ear to others in the PI community. It may be through phone calls, text messages, or via email. These mentoring opportunities are fulfilling for those who request it and those who volunteer.  


Your role will include representing IDF and maintaining the confidentiality of individuals receiving support. Following up with periodic peer support requests involves a time commitment of approximately 1-4 hours per month and committing to a minimum one-year term.


The ideal volunteer for this position should meet the following criteria:

  • Have a PI diagnosis or have a family member with PI
  • Be at least two years post-diagnosis 
  • Have strong communication and listening skills
  • Be compassionate toward others
