After receiving a Common Variable Immune Deficiency (CVID) diagnosis in November of 2019, Angela Dixon chose to live life with a positive mindset. She does not let an illness dictate what her life will be, nor does she sit and dwell on the negatives of her diagnosis. Instead, she focuses on what she can do to
impact her life and others positively. In 2020, on Giving Tuesday, Angela decided she could give back to the Immune Deficiency Foundation with a $1,000 donation. After joining IDF’s CVID Facebook group for support, reading heartfelt stories from other PI patients, and hearing about plasma shortages happening throughout the world, she felt the urge to give to an organization that is making a significant impact on those living with these rare and chronic disorders.
“Every time I believe that something needs to be promoted or have funds raised for a specific cause, I will put money into it,” says Angela. “The way I look at it is if you aren’t willing to give, how do you expect others to give? By living with CVID, I’ve become more passionate about the cause, and I want to focus not on what I can’t do, but on what I can do.”
