Donor spotlight: Team Alli's Wonderland

October 30, 2020

At just three months old, Allisyn began developing common colds and viruses that quickly turned into persistent, severe ear and respiratory infections that would lead to emergency room visits, medications, and numerous surgeries. After years of battling colds and exhaustion Allisyn’s mom, Michelle Lee, began to research and advocate to her team of doctors to help determine a clear diagnosis for her daughter. After years of not understanding why she was sick, Allisyn was diagnosed with Common Variable Immune Deficiency (CVID) in August 2019.

Since being diagnosed with CVID, IDF has been an incredible tool and support source for Allisyn and her family. In fact, IDF Walk for PI - Orange County was the first IDF event that the Lee family attended after Allisyn’s diagnosis. It was an uncertain time for the Lee family, but Allisyn had a blast during the event, and it far exceeded all expectations. It created such a fond memory for Alliysn that she immediately wanted to invite all her family and friends to join her again for IDF Walk or PI 2020.

Even though the walks are virtual, that is not stopping Allisyn. Her strong and positive spirit continues to guide her family and friends that surround her. As a team, Alli’s Wonderland has already raised over $3,000 by creating Facebook Fundraisers and utilizing the IDF Walk for PI app, which they use to track and receive all of their donations.

The Lee family states, “This year has been incredibly challenging for everyone during this unprecedented time, but IDF Walk for PI has given Allisyn and our family a fun and memorable event to share with family and friends. It has been truly amazing to see all the support we have received this year. Our family and friends have been incredibly supportive, and we truly cannot express how thankful we are to have them join us to show Allisyn is not alone!”

Today, Allisyn lives a normal life, like any other eight-year-old, by receiving weekly immunoglobulin (Ig) infusions. She now has the energy to do all the things she loves to do, including swimming with her siblings, playing basketball, and dancing with her friends.
If Allisyn and the Lee family have inspired you, please consider donating, fundraising, and participating in IDF Walk for PI. COVID-19 can’t stop us. Learn more here: www.walkforpi.org.
