Despite the success of vaccines in reducing severe illness and declining numbers of infections in many areas, COVID-19 remains a threat, particularly to the nearly 10 million people in the U.S. who are immunocompromised. There is a critical need to ensure that vulnerable Americans avoid severe symptoms and the long-lasting impacts of COVID-19 and other transmittable illnesses.
This handout from Immunocompromised Collaborative accompanied a virtual Congressional briefing on March 13, 2023, on the continued need to protect the health of the immunocompromised by ensuring access to COVID-19 antivirals, making telehealth flexibilities permanent, and supporting public health department education and awareness initiatives.
