Meet Keegan Concannon, a 15-year-old boy who became a member of our IDF community after being diagnosed with Common Variable Immune Deficiency (CVID). Keegan is constantly inspiring us by advocating for the PI community to his state legislators and by participating in our annual Advocacy Day. However, this time he is inspiring us in a different way by the hope and compassion that he is bringing to his hometown of Hudson, Massachusetts.
In the midst of COVID-19 and the impact that it is having all over the world, Keegan was inspired and determined to add some positivity back into his community. That is why Keegan decided to create his own Keegan Care Packages for the children in his community, which were available just in time for one of Keegan’s favorite holidays—Easter. Keegan Care Packages was an idea that he created in order to bring smiles and joy back to children in his community. Keegan proceeded to take his own money and placed a large order of snacks, chalk, coloring pages, stickers, bubbles, and Easter eggs to create 1,200 care packages for the kids in his community.
Standing outside his house with a mask and gloves on, Keegan managed to pass out more than 500 care packages in a matter of just two days. After receiving a few donations from his community, Keegan was able to create a couple hundred more packages and donated them to his local church.
Doing something positive and selfless gave Keegan much joy. He not only had an impact on the children but also their families. Many were shocked by Keegan’s compassion and expressed a great deal of thanks for his kind act. Keegan states, “I would love to continue this project getting more items and bags for all the kids once a month to simply bring joy to children and their parents.”
Thank you, Keegan, for being an inspiration to us all. We appreciate the kindness and generosity that you have shown, showing that one person can create an impact on an entire community.
